adidas at the London 2012 Olympic games – stage taken!

adidas -the official sportswear partner for the London 2012 Olympic games partnered with Synaptic Digital to create an online Pressroom for publishing all the Olympics action. In this process, we at Synaptic were involved not only in developing the digital Olympic PR toolkit for adidas but also managing the content and helping the adidas PR team in creating newsworthy stories. Spending the 17 days of the sporting events at the adidas Media lounge was exciting and full of action. I was delighted to attend press conferences of Legends such as Edwin Moses, Maurice Greens, Steffi Graf and Fernando Gonzalez. 800mt Olympic champion David Rudisha’s Press event was touching and emotional as he spoke about his young days of training barefoot in Kenya and not having the resources to go to a specialized training school. Track Cyclists Victoria Pendleton and Laura Trott were extremely confident about winning the medal. Their confidence did eventually pay off. Highlights of all these events were published on the adidas London 2012 Olympic PR toolkit and the News stream site developed and managed by SD. Over 35000 assets were viewed and 2000 assets were downloaded in 17 days of competition by top media outlets such as BBC, Bloomberg News and ESPN.

The adidas London 2012 press centre was full of sports enthusiasts following all the sporting events and preparing for the upcoming ones day in and day out. On the 17th day, the team invited us to the Olympics closing ceremony party at Stratford. The adidas Lounge overlooking the Olympic stadium looked spectacular. We watched, cheered, danced and enjoyed the ceremony with the adidas team.  We managed to click some beautiful pictures of the fireworks as well. It was a wonderful and memorable experience to work with the PR team at adidas.
